Have a recommendation? We'd LOVE to hear it!
Salutations Readers!

Kalamazoo has good food.
Great food, in fact. We have made it our mission to check out all the local eateries one at a time - and more for our own poor memories than any other reason, we'll be chronicling our adventures in food here. And some places float our boats way more than others, which is why we have developed the very scientific
five golden forks rating scale. Ok. It is not scientific at all. It is actually quite unscientific. But, it is something. And now, you can search all of our reviews by the forks rating. YAY!

But, wait! There's more!
Kalamazoo Foodies no longer just eat at restaurants then review them. There are recipes posted, some easy, some less easy, all delicious. There are, or will be, book reviews, the new
Foodie Movie Review-y which will focus on movies about food or ones that have a lot of beautiful food in them. There are other food musings, and hopefully soon contests and so much more. But, Foodie Friends, it is all about food. Because we love it!
And, we want to hear from you!

We want to hear your comments on our recipes and reviews. We want to know where you love to eat. And, we are looking for GUEST bloggers to broaden our horizons a bit. And, if you haven't found us on Facebook, you should do that too. Like our page for other fun Foodies stuff like photos, polls, and more.

SO KALAMAZOO PATRONS - where do YOU love to eat? Because we'd love to check it out and share our thoughts here. Give us a comment below, and quickly! Our tummies are grumbling in anticipation.

A Note from the Foodies about our typical fair:
So, you may notice as you read our blog that we often order the same thing wherever we go. OK, maybe not quite, but we do often order similar things. Kristin has her caprese salads and mushroom dishes. Kate has her baked goat cheese and things with tofu. Well, readers, we wanted to let you know that this is absolutely intentional. A) We love those things, so why not order what you love? And, B) It is a lot easier to compare apples to apples than it is to compare apples to comquats. So, we like to order similar things to have a good sense of how to compare them. Just wanted to let you in on that little secret. Bon appetit!

Old Burdick's Bar and Grill

Uh... hi? It's been too long friends, really. Kate and I have been insanely busy at work (my craziness is dying down, hers is just starting) and so we apologize that the blog has suffered a tish. We will get caught up in the next week or so, no worries faithful readers. Anyway, on to Burdick's...

Kristin: Side Salad & Philly Steak and Cheese with Mushrooms and Roasted Peppers
Burdick's was fun. We checked out College Night (because we're cheaters and use our student IDs from last year) and got some pretty good deals! The side salad I had was SOOOOOO good! It's a really classy plate they put down in front of you: Greens, honey roasted pecans, feta (so of course Kate was al over that :), and a semi-sweet vinegrette. Wonderful. The philly on the other hand... it was kinda bleh. Our service was a little lack luster as well - our server said that our order was put in behind a large party, but we were all pretty confident that he just forgot to actually put IN said order until he saw us get antsy and start checking watches/ cell phones. All in all I'd go back for a bigger version of that salad as my entire meal instead of a side.

Kate: Side Salad & the KZ Grill
Burdick's was an experience. Yes, as Kristin mentioned, we were total cheaters, but we are on a budget too, and since we totally still look like students, we should be able to enjoy that! I also had the side salad, which I agree, was yummy! Yes, there was feta, and the vinaigrette was delicious. This salad, with some grilled chicken, would be a great meal, a light one too. My KZ Grill was alright. Nothing to write home about, but as chicken sandwiches go, a pretty good one. I asked what the "rescue sauce" was that is listed in the menu, and was told it was some good sounding combination of things. However, when it arrived, it was simply Thousand Island dressing. Not so amazing. It would be hard to make this sandwich not taste alright, unless the chicken was poorly cooked, but it could have been spectacular, and it wasn't. Oh well. It was 1/2 price.
And, as Kristin mentioned, the service was AWFUL. Our server was nice enough, but seriously, we should not have paid for that meal. We waited almost an hour, I think, between our salads and our food. UNACCEPTABLE. I understand that is it "college night" and that there probably aren't great tips coming from those groups, but seriously, let's have a chat about customer service...

Once again, I love your site. So, I would like to link you to all of my reviews. You give menu details that I don't. Thanks for being awesome.

Thanks for reading! This is just something we do for fun (and clearly, we don't get to have a lot of fun anymore), so it is great to know that someone is enjoying this and getting something out of it.

And, we would love to have you link to our site! The more readers, the merrier.

From the Kalamazoo Foodies to all other Foodies... keep eating!
