Have a recommendation? We'd LOVE to hear it!
Salutations Readers!

Kalamazoo has good food.
Great food, in fact. We have made it our mission to check out all the local eateries one at a time - and more for our own poor memories than any other reason, we'll be chronicling our adventures in food here. And some places float our boats way more than others, which is why we have developed the very scientific
five golden forks rating scale. Ok. It is not scientific at all. It is actually quite unscientific. But, it is something. And now, you can search all of our reviews by the forks rating. YAY!

But, wait! There's more!
Kalamazoo Foodies no longer just eat at restaurants then review them. There are recipes posted, some easy, some less easy, all delicious. There are, or will be, book reviews, the new
Foodie Movie Review-y which will focus on movies about food or ones that have a lot of beautiful food in them. There are other food musings, and hopefully soon contests and so much more. But, Foodie Friends, it is all about food. Because we love it!
And, we want to hear from you!

We want to hear your comments on our recipes and reviews. We want to know where you love to eat. And, we are looking for GUEST bloggers to broaden our horizons a bit. And, if you haven't found us on Facebook, you should do that too. Like our page for other fun Foodies stuff like photos, polls, and more.

SO KALAMAZOO PATRONS - where do YOU love to eat? Because we'd love to check it out and share our thoughts here. Give us a comment below, and quickly! Our tummies are grumbling in anticipation.

A Note from the Foodies about our typical fair:
So, you may notice as you read our blog that we often order the same thing wherever we go. OK, maybe not quite, but we do often order similar things. Kristin has her caprese salads and mushroom dishes. Kate has her baked goat cheese and things with tofu. Well, readers, we wanted to let you know that this is absolutely intentional. A) We love those things, so why not order what you love? And, B) It is a lot easier to compare apples to apples than it is to compare apples to comquats. So, we like to order similar things to have a good sense of how to compare them. Just wanted to let you in on that little secret. Bon appetit!

Food Dance

Kristin: Pumpkin French Toast & Chicken Apple Sausages with an Apple Cider Mimosa
YAY FOOD DANCE!
Nothing new to report quality-wise here folks. Kate's parents were in town this weekend, and we had to show them the best that K-zoo has to offer. To food dance for brunch it is!
One of the seasonal specials on the menu was listed with a fancier name than I put up there, but I don't remember the specifics. I DO remember, however, that it tasted like eating pumpkin pie for breakfast, in a good way. Woot. And what would go better with such a fall-themed breakfast than a mimosa with apple cider substituted in for the traditional orange juice? I certainly can't think of anything.
Thanks again to Kate's mum and dad for treating me to a scrumptious brunch!

Kate:The same thing as usual, the two farm fresh eggs with chicken apple sausage and the cheddar and herb scone. PLUS, the Apple Cider Mimosa
So, yeah, we needed to show off our fave. So, we took Randy and Karen to Food Dance. I was boring and ordered the same thing I do every Food Dance brunch. When I ask what scones they have and the answer is "cheddar and herb, blah-de-blah, and blah-de-blah", I have already made up my mind. I swear, one day, I will branch out at brunch, so now, BACK OFF! :)
So, yes, as usual, the food was delish. Loved it. What did mom and dad have? Dad had pancakes and actually tried the chicken apple sausage, which was unbelievable as he never eats chicken. Mom had one of the specials, a vegetable quiche. They both enjoyed their meals. But, let me say, the Apple Cider Mimosa was an amazing surprise. I was a little apprehensive, but when our server assured me it was wonderful, I took a chance. And, boy, am I ever glad I did. YUM!!!
Again, Food Dance wins the "where would I take someone from out of town award". They never disappoint!

Liked reading about your culinary adventures. How about trying Chinn Chinn in Mattawan and Epic Bistro?

I like your blog. I have a few suggestions for spots to visit. For Indian food I like Indian Cuisine better than Saffron. All of the Millennium Group restaurants are pretty good (Black Swan, Epic Bistro, Fieldstone Grill, and the Union). The Crow's Nest upstairs from 4th Coast coffee is nice. But a real gem is out of town Bistro 120 in Paw Paw is awesome! It has many homemade soups and CHEESECAKES!!

Thanks for your comments and the suggestions! Work has slowed down our dining lately, but we will be sure to add these gems to the list! Thanks for reading. Check back soon as we update. (We've been bad lately, we know!)

HI!
Thanks for stopping by - and thank you SO much for the new suggestions (the list is more or less kaputzsky.)

I just got caught back up on the blogging - Larry you'll see we've already been to the Crow's Nest, though we'll have to go back soon.

I can't wait to try out the other picks you've both outlined, thank you again!
